Taylor Swift’s Heart of Gold: Her Big Surprise for Louisiana Flood Victims
Taylor Swift has not had an easy time of it lately. She has been trashed by pseudo-celebs, but the always-graceful Ms. Swift has managed to stay above the fray of gossip.
She has been posting such positive things as her support for Gabby Douglas and other Olympic gymnasts. She has been spending time with friends as her old MySpace posts are being circulated again, which are not-so-controversally filled with such things as gushing over Rihanna and watching specials on the History Channel.
Here’s much bigger news that will warm your heart: One thing that Taylor has also been quietly doing is helping those who are experiencing huge loss in Louisiana as huge floods destroy homes and neighborhoods. She wasn’t merely posting about the travesty or sending her thoughts for the victims. She donated a whopping $1 million dollars to the helping victims of the floods.
Taylor is no stranger to Louisiana. In fact, she has visited the state multiple times in the past, and she most recently traveled there when she was on her blockbuster, record-breaking 1989 tour. In fact, the entire world tour began in Louisiana, and the mega-successful singer commended the fans for making her feel instantly at home in The Pelican State.
The motto of Louisiana is “Union, Justice and Confidence”. It seems to have inspired such sentiments in Taylor. She told CNN that she found it heartbreaking that so many Louisiana residents had to leave their homes. She went on to say, “I encourage those who can to help out and send your love and prayers their way during this devastating time.”
Not everyone has had goodwill for Taylor lately.
Celebrity couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West put her on blast when the Kim publicly called her a liar and played a phone call that Kanye had recorded without telling her he was doing so. One problem with that recording: nowhere in the phone call does Taylor approve the most offensive line of the song that refers to her.
Taylor has kept her head high regarding the attack. In fact, she only addressed the haters in a single tweet in which she addressed the illegal actions of Kanye by posting a tweet that began, “That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet.” She then proceeded to explain her side of the situation, where she explained how she was innocent of the strange attack.
As for Taylor, the songstress who has won every major music award multiple times and who has achieved multiple Guinness World Records. The future looks very bright for the superstar and her much-discussed squad of friends. Taylor is taking some time off and has recently been reunited with her flame Tom Hiddleston. All Swifties know that Taylor’s down time often coincides with the moments when she writes some of her greatest music, so she be creating her next hit album at the moment.
Until then, Taylor is helping make the world a better place with such grand donations as the one for the Louisiana flood relief efforts. John Bel Edwards, the governor of Louisiana, has declared a state of emergency in the state as efforts continue. Some organizations that are actively helping residents are Operation Blessing International, Samaritan’s Purse, and Volunteer Louisiana.
